Presentation

The Postgraduate Program in Health and Environment (PPGSA) - Academic Master's Degree Level - at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) is hosted at the Center for Biological and Health Sciences (CCBS); Its Master's proposal was approved by CONSEPE resolution 13, of July 24, 1995, and academic activities started in 1996. This program is the result of a wide discussion and interaction between professors with a pioneer interdisciplinary approach. It is composed by professors from the Departments of Biology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Geography, Oceanography and Liminology, Pathology and Sociology and Anthropology at UFMA, in addition to important collaborations by professors from various universities in the country and abroad. It was the first master's degree at the Center for Biological Sciences and served as a hub for the emergence of all other CCBS post graduation programs. It has a score of 3 in the CAPES evaluation for the 2017-2021 period. It is divided into one area of concentration: "Health and Environment" with two lines of research: (i) One Health; and (ii) Environmental Determinants and Sustainability.
