PPGO/CCBS

The Dentistry Graduate Program at the Federal University of Maranhão (PPGO-UFMA) started its activities with its first class of the Master's Degree Course in 2008. The PPGO-UFMA is intended for the qualified training of masters and Ph.D. students to work in academic teaching activities, conduct scientific research, and propose innovative technological solutions in the different fields of Dentistry. The program has developed studies involving basic, epidemiological, clinical, and translational research. By the end of the year 2020, 99 Master's students and 46 Ph.D. students were graduated from PPGO-UFMA. In the year 2022, the 13th class of the Master's Course and the 11th class of the Ph.D. Course began. It is noteworthy that all permanent teachers at PPGO-UFMA are full-time teachers with exclusive dedication at UFMA, with effective performance in teaching, research, extension, and innovation actions. Permanent professors teach semester classes at undergraduate and graduate levels, guide course completion, scientific initiation, and technological initiation work, and participate in joint research projects in the program's research lines. Teachers maintain partnerships with researchers in several institutions in Brazil and abroad. They also act as ad-hoc consultants for funding agencies and reviewers of scientific journals. PPG-UFMA graduates have acted as faculty, researchers, and coordinators of the undergraduate course in public and private higher education institutions. It is noteworthy the nucleation of graduates in the faculty in the Graduate Program of other institutions. PPGO-UFMA has a clear intention to contribute to the improvement of professional qualification, to generate quality scientific production, to increase its social insertion, and thus to contribute to the development of the state of Maranhão and Brazil.
