PPGQUIM/CCET

The implementation of the Graduate Program at the Federal University of Maranhão began in the 90’s, and the Graduate Program in Chemistry had its activities started in the second semester of 1995. Regimentally, the PPGQuim aims to form resources qualified human to Higher Teaching and to the development of research in the area of Chemistry turned to the regional interest. During these almost 20 years of existence, the PPGQuim has evolved through well-defined and significant stages, ranging from setting up an initial infrastructure, implementing a teacher qualification plan, hiring new teachers, going through the funding crisis research since 1988, and experiencing a new reality since 2001, with the creation and operation of Sectorial Funds, mainly CT-Petro. In turn, this fact contributed significantly to the building of the current laboratory library, communication and computer infrastructures, as well as enabling the participation of visiting professors, through RHAE scholarships. It is also worth mentioning the intellectual maturity of the new doctors incorporated into the Program, which contributed to the submission and approval of new research projects, whether with a thematic focus or those involving institutional exchanges, contributing to the improvement of intellectual production. The facts reported above allow us to assess that the PPGQuim has undergone an evolution that characterizes it today for having a good laboratory infrastructure, good financial support, via financial projects, and effective researchers for the stage of the course. This suggest that PPGQuim is an important Program with possibilities of expansion.
