Vagas de pós-doutorado na USP

2023-04-11 10:18:31.124

Three Postdoctoral positions are available at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) at Sao Carlos, Brazil, and at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, under the scope of the project "Monitoring via Synchrophasors, Dynamic Security Analysis, and Control of Future Power Systems", supported by Fundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Sao Paulo (FAPESP) under grant #2018/20104-9.

The project is coordinated by Prof. Luis Fernando Costa Alberto and the candidates selected for the scholarships will be supervised by the project coordinator, by Prof. Rodrigo Andrade Ramos or by Prof. Daniel Dotta, according to the respective area of research. Professors Luis Alberto and Rodrigo Ramos are affiliated to the Department of Electrical Engineering (SEL) of the Sao Carlos School of Engineering (EESC/USP), and Prof. Daniel Dotta is affiliated to the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC/UNICAMP).

The selected candidates will work either in the area of dynamic security assessment of power systems with a focus on the evaluation of voltage stability or in the area of stability analysis and control of systems with high penetration of wind generation.

For the candidate working with voltage stability, problems involving uncertainties from various sources in both load and generation must be addressed. Furthermore, problems related to the incorporation of operational limits (especially reactive power limits) are among the scope of the research duties of the candidate.

For the two candidates working with stability analysis and control, the effects of high penetration of wind power on the frequency and small-signal stability of the system will be the main topics of research, with a focus on the development of controllers to enhance the respective stability margins.

To apply for these positions, the candidate must have earned a degree of Ph.D. or D.Sc. in the area of power systems in the last 7 years. The selection will be made by evaluation of the Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the applicant. For selection purposes, only the information to which there is clear evidence attached to the application will be taken into account. This documentation to evidence the information in the CV can be sent as scanned copies by e-mail or, preferably, be made available for download. At the discretion of the coordinator and/or the supervisor, an interview by videoconference may be required to address any unclear issue and to assess the fluency of the candidate in the English language.

Applications will be considered for all the three positions at once. However, the applicant must choose the order of preference for the research areas in which they intend to be evaluated.

The applications must start with an e-mail sent to lfcalberto@usp.br, using the subject "Subscription to FAPESP Post-Doctorate Position", in which the requirements in the previous paragraphs must be fulfilled. A scanned copy of a document comproving the degree of the candidate must be attached to this e-mail. Applications will be received in the period between March 20th and April 20th, 2023.

These post-doctorate opportunities are open to both Brazilian and foreign citizens. The selected candidates will receive a monthly FAPESP scholarship of R$ 8.479,20 and will be granted up to 15% of the annual value of this scholarship to cover expenses directly related to the research activities.

FAPESP requires that the selected candidates reside in the same city of the host institution to grant the scholarship. SEL/EESC/USP is located in the city of Sao Carlos and FEEC/UNICAMP is located in the city of Campinas, both in the central region of the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, approximately 250 km and 150 km away from the capital, respectively. If the selected candidates need to move to fulfill this requirement, an additional amount for this purpose may be available.
